Dealing With Recruitment Agencies

If you are job hunting on your own, it can sometimes feel a little overwhelming. How can you be sure that you are seeing the best work opportunity there is to find? If you have a decent resume, then recruitment agencies can help you.

What you need to know is that recruiters are paid by the employers. This means that they prioritize the interest of your future employer's. If you will fit well into the employer's needs, then everybody wins.

National versus Local Recruiters

There are so many directories out there that contains all the recruiters indexed according to specializations such as financing, or insurance industries. These are some of the best places to begin looking for your recruitment agent. You will also want to choose either a national or a local recruiter. If you are earning around sixty thousand dollars or less for a year, then you are best suited for local recruitment agents. A paycheck that is way above seventy thousand dollars is best suited for national recruitment agents.

Even entry level hopefuls can find a recruiter that specializes on your field. You might want to look at the classified ads of trade and industry circulations in order to find the recruiters of your niche - especially if your niche is particularly specific. Another great way is to ask your contacts who have inexperience in that field if they know any good recruiters.

Calling The Recruiters

Once you have narrowed down your list of good recruitment agents for your target job, then the second step is to contact them. Send your updated resume. Include a brief note about your background. If you have already been referred to the agency, then give them a call first. They will most likely give a brief phone screening which might increase your chances.

Check Their Background as Well

You do not want to be represented by the wrong people. Do a good background check. Ask them questions about how long they have been operating, how many placements do they do annually, etc.

Don't Stop Your Own Job Search

Do not place all your eggs in one basket so to speak. Remember that a recruitment agency is just one channel in your job search. They do not exist to look jobs for you, they exist to fill jobs for the employer. If you get a job on your own, call your recruiter and let them know promptly. If you anyone else who might fit the description of what your recruiters are looking for, why not give them their names and contact details? Remember that these people you help now might be the ones helping you later on to find a job again.
